Integrated Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety Policy

MICT’s commitment to the requirements of the international standards of Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety is guided by our values and vision toward sustaining modern and dynamic container terminal operations.

Our constant pursuit of excellence in our business operation is based on our LIFT principle:

  1. Lead in improving and upgrading the Organization’s manpower, information technology, internal processes, terminal infrastructure, and cargo handling equipment by allocating resources optimally to achieve world-class port operation.
     
  2. Instill the importance of committing to health and safety as a personal value, stewarding the environment, and delivering the best customer experience.
     
  3. Foster a collaborative relationship with our employees, contractors, customers, impacted communities, and other key stakeholders through active participation and consultation.
     
  4. Train and develop our employees to innovate continuously while ensuring compliance to applicable local, national, or international regulatory and statutory requirements.

This IMS Policy is extensively communicated to all our employees, customers, and other relevant stakeholders and is annually reviewed to ensure it remains value-adding to our organization and the wider public.

General Health and Safety Guidelines
  1. Unauthorized entry to the terminal is not allowed - always seek approval from the MICT Management. 
  2. Always wear basic and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, safety shoes, and high visibility vest/uniform.
  3. Loitering inside the terminal is strictly prohibited.
  4. Smoking is only allowed within the designated smoking stations.
  5. Possession, bringing, selling, and using alcoholic beverage, illegal drugs, deadly weapons and firearms are not allowed within the terminal and company premises.
  6. Only adults (18 years old and above) will be allowed inside the terminal.
  7. Pets are not allowed
  8. For basic safety and basic comfort considerations, persons with disability are generally discouraged from entering the terminal.
  9. Horseplaying, gambling, and fighting is prohibited inside the terminal.
  10. Read and obey all Safety and Warning signs inside the terminal.
  11. Stay away from suspended loads,
  12. Immediately report any incident or accident to the HSE department.
Health and Safety Guidelines for Drivers and Vehicles
  1. Vehicles must be parked in the designated parking areas only.
  2. A blinker and a printed company name on the vehicle is required when entering the terminal
  3. Do not drive any vehicle or equipment unless trained and authorized to do so.
  4. Use of mobile phone while driving is strictly prohibited.
  5. Observe the 20kph maximum speed limit while inside the terminal.
  6. Do not park or block the RTG lane, truck lane, and Quay Crane lane.
  7. Be cautious of moving vehicles and other equipment.
  8. Always bring a copy of the valid OR/CR of the vehicle in use.
  9. Always bring a valid driver's license.
  10. Be careful when passing or driving on intersections; use your headlights and blow your horn as necessary.
  11. Keep your headlights on when driving inside the terminal, especially during at night.
  12. Give way to pedestrians and always follow the road signs.
Health and Safety Guidelines for Contractors
  1. Secure all necessary permits and comply with the entry requirements prior to deployment.
  2. Provide additional PPE's to your personnel as needed.
  3. Observe proper housekeeping of tools and materials after each shift.
  4. Use 3-point contact when climbing the stairs or equipment.
  5. Use the correct tools for the job and inspect them prior to use.
  6. Follow the Lock-Out-Tag-Out-Try-Out procedure of MICT.
  7. Make sure all personnel are competent and trained for the task.
  8. All personnel must complete the Safety Induction prior to deployment and entry.
  9. Stay in your designated workstations - refrain from loitering around the terminal.
  10. Familiarize yourself with the emergency numbers and evacuation plan inside the terminal.
COVID19 Prevention and Control Guidelines
  1. Wear face shield and face mask as mandated by law.
  2. Do not borrow or lend PPE, utensils and other personal items.
  3. Temperature check is required prior to entering the terminal (Temperature of 37.6 is considered fever, and is a valid reason to be denied entry to the terminal)
  4. Cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing and wash your hands regularly with clean water and soap.
  5. Disinfect regularly using the alcohol at the designated stations placed in different areas in the terminal.
  6. Maintain physical distancing of at least 1 - 2 meter.
  7. Sanitize or disinfect commonly used tools, objects, and vehicles before use or every end of the shift.
  8. Strengthen your immune system by having enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, drinking enough water and doing regular exercises.
  9. Throw disposable gloves and masks in the yellow trash bin only.
  10. If you are experiencing frequent fever, coughing, flu, sore throat, body pain and diarrhea, consult your doctor immediately.
